- Detach the battery
First, turn off the engine. Then pop the food and locate the battery. Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable from the car battery. First, use a wrench to loosen the nut. A battery pliers unit would be better liars or a battery wrench.
- Twist/pull up on the cable’s end using your hand.
If the cable doesn’t move easily, you should consider pushing a battery terminal puller. That will help to prevent the battery/cables from getting damaged.
It’s not a good idea to use a screwdriver to function as a pry-bar. The reason is it could break the battery terminal or even result in damage.
- Detach the red battery cable from the battery
Make sure to use the positive (red) battery cable using the same technique.
- Remove the battery clamp
